Draft – review by a lawyer recommended. This document is a professional draft prepared with reference to India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by a qualified Indian lawyer before publication.
Our Forever Vows (“we”, “us”, “our”), a matrimonial consultancy service by Radhika Sareen, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you visit ourforevervows.in, submit a profile, or contact us. We act as a Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
1. Personal data we collect
- Profile information you choose to provide: name, gender, age, height, religion/community, education, profession, city/country, marital status, family background and partner expectations.
- Contact details: phone number and email address.
- Photographs, only if you choose to share them with us privately on WhatsApp when we request them after receiving your details. We do not collect photographs through this website.
- Enquiry content you send through our contact form, email, phone or WhatsApp.
- Technical data: limited information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through server logs, security tools and (only if enabled) analytics cookies. When you submit a form, we also keep a record of your consent: the date and time, your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string and the version of the consent wording you agreed to.
Some information you share, such as religion or community, may be personal in nature. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing for matchmaking purposes.
2. Purpose of processing
We process your personal data only for the following specified purposes:
- to understand your preferences and provide personalised matrimonial consultancy and matchmaking;
- to identify and propose suitable matches and, with your consent, to share relevant details with prospective matches and their families;
- to verify information you provide, where reasonably required;
- to contact you about your profile, introductions and enquiries;
- to keep our website secure and prevent spam or misuse; and
- to comply with applicable law.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising.
3. Consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent, given by ticking the consent box on our forms or by otherwise sharing your information with us for matchmaking. Where you provide information about family members, you confirm that you are entitled to share it.
4. Withdrawal of consent
You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to [email protected]. Withdrawal is as easy as giving consent. Once withdrawn, we will stop processing your data and delete it within a reasonable period, unless retention is required by law. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it, and information already shared with a prospective match with your consent may remain with them.
5. No public profiles; photographs are never public
Our Forever Vows does not operate a public database or directory. Your profile is never published on our website or elsewhere. Photographs are collected only via WhatsApp, on request, and never through this website. They are never displayed publicly; they are kept privately and shared only with your consent, and only with prospective matches or families we consider suitable.
6. Sharing with third parties
We share personal data only as needed:
- Prospective matches and their families — only with your consent.
- Service providers (Data Processors) who help us operate, such as website hosting, email and messaging providers (including WhatsApp, where you choose to share photographs or messages with us), bound to protect your data and use it only on our instructions.
- Authorities — where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Some service providers may store data on servers outside India. Where this occurs, we will do so only as permitted under the DPDP Act and any rules or restrictions notified under it.
7. Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above — typically while your profile is active and for a reasonable period afterwards — or until you withdraw consent, after which it will be erased unless the law requires us to retain it. Inactive profiles are periodically reviewed and deleted. [Owner to confirm a specific retention period, e.g. 12 months after last contact]
8. Security
We take reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal data, including access restrictions, private (non-public) storage of form submissions and photographs, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to those who need it. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a personal data breach, we will act as required under the DPDP Act, including notifying affected persons and the Data Protection Board of India where applicable.
9. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses only cookies that are necessary for it to function and stay secure. If we introduce analytics (for example, to understand visitor numbers), we will use privacy-respecting settings, update this policy, and where required ask for your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
10. Your rights
Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- obtain a summary of your personal data we process and the processing activities;
- request correction, completion, updating or erasure of your personal data;
- withdraw consent;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity; and
- have your grievances redressed.
11. Children
Our services are intended only for adults of legal marriageable age in India. We do not knowingly collect personal data of anyone under 18. Where a parent or guardian enquires on behalf of an adult family member, the profile must be submitted with that person’s knowledge and consent.
12. Grievance redressal
For any question, request or complaint about your personal data, please contact us at [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request”. We aim to acknowledge requests promptly and resolve them within the time prescribed under applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational for such complaints.
Grievance contact: [Name of grievance officer — owner to confirm], Our Forever Vows, [email protected].
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with the date of last update.
